about Laarnie

I'm Laarnie — a licensed financial adviser, registered nurse, and mum of three based in Hamilton, New Zealand.

My path into financial advice wasn't the obvious one. After years working in nursing, I watched people navigate some of the hardest moments of their lives, often without the financial protection that would have made things just a little bit easier. That stayed with me. Eventually, it changed my career.

I now help individuals, families, and professionals across New Zealand get the right insurance and KiwiSaver in place, so that when life does something unexpected, they're not starting from zero.

Most advisers understand insurance. I also understand medicine.

Two women sitting at a wooden table, one taking notes with a pen and the other using a laptop, in a well-lit room with white curtains.

After years in nursing, I can read a policy and a clinical report and know exactly where the two intersect. That's not something most advisers can say, and it makes a real difference when it counts.

When a claim gets declined, I don't just pass on the bad news. I read the medical reasoning behind the decision, understand what it actually means, and know how to challenge it. I've had declined claims overturned and approved because of it. For clients going through one of the most stressful periods of their lives, that changes everything.

How i Work

Working with me feels different from the start.

Step 1

We talk through your situation

The first conversation is free and there's no obligation to go further. I want to understand your life properly before I recommend anything — your family, your income, your goals, and what you currently have in place. This isn't a sales call. It's a proper conversation.

Step 2

I do the research and find the right fit

I compare options across New Zealand's leading insurers and find cover that actually suits your situation and budget. I'll explain the differences in plain language, including in Tagalog if that's easier, and make sure you understand exactly what you're signing up for before you commit to anything.

Step 3

I stay with you long after the paperwork is done

This is where most advisers stop. I don't. I review your cover as your life changes, I'm available when you have questions, and I show up when you need to make a claim. That last part matters more than most people realise until they're in it.

I became a financial adviser because I've seen what happens when people aren't protected.

A woman with long wavy hair, wearing a sleeveless cream top, sitting at a white table in a modern office, reading a paper. A black computer monitor is on the table, and there is a white wall with a framed photo on the left side.

Outside of work, I'm a mum of three navigating the same busy, full life that most of my clients are living. My husband, also a registered nurse, works alongside me in the business. We understand what it means to balance a career, a family, and a future you're trying to build.

That's not background noise. It's why I take this work seriously.

If you've been putting insurance off, or you're not sure whether what you have is actually enough, let's talk.
